The Asterisk Amateur Radio Network is based on the ASTERISK® PBX software package. ASTERISK® PBX has the capability to interconnect communications from and between the following:

* Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)
* Internet Telephone (VoIP – SIP, IAX2)
* Radio Communications (Analog and Digital on HF, VHF, UHF, SHF)

Via Asterisk® PBX multiple services can be interconnected and the resource is available to the served agencies and organizations. With the addition of High Speed Multi Media (HSMM) a rapid deployment communications network can be established for event and incident communications support.
